Symptoms of emotional disturbances can be cognitive, e.g. ruminating thoughts, self-depreciation, blame, guilt, sadness etc, and they can also be physical, such as stress, high blood pressure, weight gain/loss, headaches, IBS etc. Therefore there can be many physical, as well as emotional benefits to therapy.
